How to claim Turaco insurance
- Find out which Turaco cover you hold: it usually came with a loan or another product from a partner company, so the partner's statement or SMS names it.
- Contact Turaco: WhatsApp 0768 387 245, toll-free 0800 720 348 or 0711 082 455 (Turaco contact page). Its contact form also has a "Claim Inquiry" topic.
- Send what the cover requires — for hospital cash, the hospital admission and discharge documents; for last expense, the death certificate or burial permit — together with your ID. Turaco does not publish one fixed document list, so ask on the first call.
- Turaco says it validates claims with fraud-scoring tools and that most payouts are made within 3 days, to the mobile-money wallet (Turaco).
Turaco's contact page also lists a second number, 0800 221 245, under "Phone": if one line fails, try the other. The Insurance Act's 90-day limit for paying claims does not apply to micro-insurance claims (s.203(1A)), so keep a record of when you sent each document; if a claim stalls, see how to complain.

Before you buy from Turaco in Kenya
- Check that the policy is issued by one of the companies above — the licensed entity, not only the brand.
- For motor cover, dial *352# or use verify.dmvic.com to check a motor certificate.
- Ask for the schedule and the exclusions in writing, and compare them with at least one other insurer.
- Keep in mind the claim rule that applies to every insurer: the insurer must settle within 90 days of the claim being reported once all documents are provided, or pay a 5% penalty (Insurance Act s.203).
- If something goes wrong, complain to the insurer, then to the Insurance Regulatory Authority (complaints@ira.go.ke, toll-free 0800 724 499).
The rules above come from our guides: check a cover, licensed insurers and how to complain.
