Licensed insurance companies in Kenya (2026 list)

IRA's 2026 list of licensed entities (dated 30 March 2026) names 22 long-term (life) insurers, 35 general insurers and 5 micro-insurers. Three companies — Kenindia, The Kenyan Alliance and The Monarch — hold both licences. Only a licensed insurer can legally sell you a policy in Kenya.

- Look for the insurer in the list below, or open IRA's 2026 notice.
- For a broker, agent, bancassurance agent or medical insurance provider, search IRA's registry of licensed entities.
- For a motor certificate, dial *352# to check it is genuine.
- In doubt, call IRA on the toll-free line 0800 724 499.
